Weekend in the Woods Part II: Bus Ride

So my journey continues in Martinez where I boarded my Amtrak bus to Garberville…

I made myself a cozy little spot in the back of the bus beside the bathroom with some body part touching some luggage that I carried( to prevent theft). Anyway my bus left late because another train was.. and so we left one hour behind schedule. As I left Martinez I thought this was a good getaway for me to just relax enjoying the sights and do the road trip thing without worrying about gas money. I went through Petaluma , Rohnert Park, Ukiah,Willits,Leggit & Garberville. Between Leggit and Gargerville is Piercy which is where the Reggae Rising Festival is kept and the bus stopped at all these locations except Piercy, even a Burger King in the middle of nowhere

There was supposed to be a shuttle called Jahworks Bus from Garberville to the festival but since my bus was late, the shuttle stopped running at the time I arrived. Here is where the miracle happened…I am a very friendly person and so I started it chat it up with this girl called Vanessa and she happens to be a volunteeer at the festival with her brother. She was also waiting for this shuttle and as soon as we mentioned her brother he drove up into the gas station we were, she shouted “BROTHER” and I was so shocked, she asked her brother for a ride and Me, Luke and this other woman (dont remember her name). On our merry way to Piercy to Reggae Rising.

Woods Weekend Part 1:Train Ride

On August 2  I decided to book a ticket on a train to Garberville,CA waaaay up near Oregon In Humbodlt county although my destination was Piecy,Ca they were pretty much 10 minutes from each other .This place is where the giant redwood trees sit but I could nt get to see a thing because it was so dark. I met some new people on my little trip but first let me tell you how my journey went.

I was at school that Friday Morning because I left my cell phone in the office the yesterday. So  I was waiting for a bus to come, but mind you its 11:20am and the clock is not ticking any slower. My train is supposed to leave San Jose Diridon Station at 12:20am and I live nearly and hour away from the station.

I called my friend Sam who happened to be at school that day and told her I would pay $100 to drive me to the train station, and she did, who wouldn’t! So I was right on time , I never been so far away from home before on my own , and it felt good.

Most of the people I met were first train travellers like myself and we were pretty excited. The scenery was beautiful, train was comfortable and it travels so much faster than driving. We went from San Jose to Oakland in an hour. Anyways, I went to bed late that last night and was getting sleepy but before that happens I have to explore this train first and get some food in my tummy.

I bought a hot dog with the  works and it was hmmmm mmm good, made me want to sleep even worse. So i did. There are these chairs in the train that fold out and they face each other so when you put the foot rest up for all of them VOILA! you have a bed to sleep on.

My stop was in Martinez, a tiny city outside of Sacramento and there I would take the Amtrak Bus to Garberville!

While waiting I chattted it up with a few people and I met this one guy named Luke, that dude is hardcore. He is like a lil traveller, he camps out and does all the stuff that campers do, plus he was a cute! He is not homeless but a undercover hippie and he was so cool to talk to,he told me about his cross country trips and I just wish it was me telling the story.

We boarded that bus and we are on our way to Garberville….
